Laxmi Duwadi

Laxmi Duwadi cover

Laxmi Duwadi was admitted to Bir Hospital after developing severe complications from untreated cholecystitis, which resulted in a gangrenous (rotting) gallbladder that required urgent surgical removal. The operation was successfully performed, but following her treatment, her family faced difficulties settling the remaining hospital expenses.

At the time of discharge, the family was unable to pay the outstanding NPR 15,000 required by the hospital. Their financial hardship was compounded by the fact that Laxmi's husband, Gokarna Duwadi, had previously lost his left hand in an accident and was living and working with only one functional hand, making it difficult for the family to earn a stable income.

Recognizing their immediate need, Anuprastha Foundation stepped in to ensure that the remaining hospital bill was cleared without further delay. The financial assistance enabled the family to complete the discharge process and focus on Laxmi's recovery instead of the burden of unpaid medical expenses.

Laxmi's case illustrates how even relatively modest medical costs can become overwhelming for families already living under significant financial and physical hardships. Timely assistance during such critical moments can help patients access the care they need and recover with dignity, without the added stress of unaffordable hospital bills.
